  • To make sure you are only advertising to the right customers, try putting quotes around your keyword like this: "Dog Training Guide" - which is a Phrase Match - meaning your ad will only show to someone searching for a "Training Guide for Dogs" and it wil also show for "Guide for Training Dogs". 
  • If you put brackets around your keyword like this:  [Dog Training Guide] -then your ad will only show when someone searches Dog Training Guide - exactly as you show it.

 

4. Don't Start Out Bidding Low

The best way to start out with Adwords is bidding a higher Cost Per Click (CPC) than you actually want to pay.. but only temporarily!  After a few clicks you will adjust your CPC down little by little.  You just need to get your ad clicked on a few times when it's showing at the top of the page.. then once you have a high Click Through Rate and Relevancy Rate, then you can lower your CPC little by little and still receive plenty of clicks for a cheap price.
